An Adventure in LA

I’m just back from LA and Christine’s movie premiere—home in time to get today’s podcast uploaded, where I’m talking about the different orgs I know of that support and nurture those patients and survivors who are new to breast cancer advocacy. I feel fortunate to have found two amazing ones myself—Stand Tall AFC and LBCA—where I’ve been mentored in my advocacy from the beginning, and now am supporting other advocates. It was good to connect in person with Renee from Stand Tall while I was in LA, and to see that she’s ok after losing her house in the fires. She gave us a tour of her old neighborhood, which seemed like a giant graveyard with tall gray chimneys rising out of the flat and charred rubble. It was a little erie walking down such empty, quiet streets, but all I sensed from Renee was complete gratitude and a willingness to start again. She’s an inspiring woman and colleague and I’m excited to be supporting her amazing vision for the flat community.

Check out Stand Tall’s new substack at https://standtallafc.substack.com to see and hear the second newsletter there—a video from Renee and me. And be sure to listen to the new A Breast Cancer Diary podcast episode if you’re interested in advocacy work on behalf of breast cancer research and patients!
